How do I make a gift from my IRA?

Instead of taking your Required Minimum Distribution (RMD) from your IRA and paying federal and state taxes, have your RMD distribution go to Season of Sharing Fund. Every dollar will go towards housing, food, and other basic needs so our Bay Area neighbors can get back on their feet.

To qualify, you must be over 70 1/2 if you were born before 1949 and age 72 after 1949 to make the distribution from a Traditional IRA (cannot be from an ongoing SEP or SIMPLE IRA) directly to a qualified charity.

Gifts of any value $100,000 or less are eligible for this benefit. Ask your financial advisor at the institution holding your IRA how to make a donation to Season of Sharing Fund through the IRA charitable rollover, which is also sometimes referred to as a qualified charitable distribution, or QCD for short.
